Beautiful illustrations and perfect for mother's day!

The Water Babies remind me a little of May Gibbs. :)

Absolutely Teresa! I couldn't agree more - May Gibbs' Snuggelpot and Cuddelpie is very similar. While I was doing this post I was actually wondering if it's because it's the same era or May Gibbs saw Willcox Smith's work? I'm thinking same era...

Oh my...what an absolute delight to see these Jesse Wilcox Smith illustrations so lovingly resurrected and in a place of honor here on your blog! i have adored her tender art for decades, and I even have one of her prints in a sweet oval frame, propped on my fireplace mantel. It is of a little girl sitting in a window seat reading a book, bathed in the thin sunlight of a snowy, winter afternoon. I never tire of gazing at it. Thanks so much for posting all of these lovely pictures!

Oh they are wonderful, so evocative. Thanks for introducing her work to me! I recently came across Mary Blair and the illustrations she did for Disney and they really get you right in the gut, these do the same. Beautiful work.

Pattie - that framed image sounds so charming! Jessie Willcox Smith really captured young innocence and sweetness, didn't she? So glad you like the post!

Lowlow - Mary Blair? Hmmm...thank you - I'll go check her out!
