More architecture from me today for Shadow Shot Sunday! This is Del Rio which is a couple of blocks up the road from where I live in Elizabeth Bay. Del Rio was the first of the popular Spanish mission-style flats built in the Elizabeth Bay area. Its waterfront position and Art Deco glamour make it one of the loveliest block of flats in the area. In fact, when I did a google search on this building I found that it was in the top ten of several lists of desirable residences in Sydney! Wow!
Shadow Shot Sunday is brought to you by Tracy of Hey Harriet. If you would like to participate all you have to do is read the instructions here.
Happy Sunday! :0)
The look of old Spain is perfect here! The tile roofs are wonderful, and the tiles adds such class, especially when compared to the normal asphalt roof shingles of today. The stucco exterior is a look of the past, the white brilliance perfect under the strong sun. The detail that is most fetching are shutters that actually shut, not the non-functional ones of present (and I include the stationary shutters on our house too). Desirable location? Absolutely!

Cool, Sam! I do like a nice Mission-style/Spanish revival type house but only when it's not over done and looks as authentic as possible. There's a lot of grand mansions in that style and sometimes it looks tacky.

The shadows certainly stand out on those white (or are they grey?) buildings!
SHADOW PLAY
Shadows like horses, shadow likes chicks,
Shadows like houses built with red bricks;
Shadows much taller than a high wall—
No matter their shape, I love them all!

Oooh very nice! I'd love to see the interiors too! I guess that would be asking too much to have you sneak inside to take some pics? ;) Loving that bright blue sky. White buildings and blue skies are the perfect combo!
Hope your week is off to a super start Sam! xo
