Judging by these Vogue Street Style Details, I'd say it's still fairly fashionable to have a smart handbag/ clutch and a pair of pretty shoes. These shots were taken in the streets in and around the grand fashion shows this year i.e. Paris Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week etc etc
Cecil Beaton, photographer, painter, set designer, writer, illustrator, couturier etc, had a long and productive life that spanned six decades from the art deco '20s to the swinging sixties and beyond! I have been meaning to do a post on his delicate watercolours for a while, but I'm also very partial to his portraits from the 20s and 30s of society beauties in fancy dress. Above is a his sister Barbara Beaton in a sic-fi costume, below is his sister Nancy Beaton as a shooting star and below that is a society beauty in a medieval gown.

René Lalique is perhaps best known for his glass designs, but he was also an exceptional designer of hair accessories and jewellery. These pieces above, which feature a necklace, brooch and two hair combs are exquisite examples of his work and classic examples of the art nouveau style generally. There is also a silver plated sycamore hair pin by Lucien Gaillard, bottom right, which caught my eye.
