This Mid - Century modern home by architects Bohlin Cywinski Jackson is really something. Sometimes I think Mid-Century Modern, if not done well, can be quite austere and soulless. However, I don't think this airy house set amongst the trees in Seattle Washington has this problem. It manages to be both an architecturally stylish house and a serenely spacious home that I could easily move into.
I have just discovered the seriously arty jewellery of Swiss artist/ jeweler Bernhard Schobinger. He uses "traditional" materials for some pieces, for example, in the snake piece above he has used a black diamond, gold, a cultured pearl, malachite and vermillion pigment. However, for other pieces he uses exotic substances like Tolucca meteorite and fine gold, as in the piece on the bottom left. Hmm...interesting!
I've featured one of my all time favourite children's book illustrators Garth Williambefore. If you grew up with Golden Books, I bet you remember and love him too! These black and white ink drawings are from the children's book "Harry Cat's Pet Puppy". The look on Harry Cat's face in some of these drawings is priceless!
This is Arlo and he's in his favourite chair. It's his favourite chair for three reasons. Firstly, in his opinion, it's very fine looking. The rainbows and clouds immediately put him at ease whenever he gets up on it. Say no more. Secondly, it's very comfy. Favourite chairs have to be comfy and this one is especially so. Thirdly, it's positioned very conveniently so that he has a clear view of the kitchen (and therefore anything exciting going on in there) and an equally clear view of the lounge room and TV set. So I think you can appreciate why Arlo has decided that this is his favourite chair. I think it would be my favourite chair too.
