Seurat's is especially beautiful, like a painting in its own right. I have an old painter's palette bought on some excursion to a junk shop or market. I don't think it belonged to anyone famous though! I watched a documentary about Lucien Freud the other day and was fascinated to see how his whole studio was weathered with paint-floors and walls. He had worked there for so many years.

Love this post. The palettes tell so much about the painter, that's so touching. Thanks for sharing this!
