Macaron heaven

Theurel and Thomas have the most amazing store devoted entirely to their macarons in Mexico. It really is macaron heaven. Designed by Anagrama, these interiors are elegance personified the way they showcase the macarons in all their delicate beauty against the stark white.

I've only recently become a macaron connoisseur. My Dad  introduced me to the delights of these fine meringue, almond power and sugar confections a few months back. I've become such a connoisseur that I've discovered that just because a macaron looks lovely, it ain't necessarily so! However, I think these ones pictured here at Theurel and Thomas would be pretty amazing. I don't know why I think that - intuition I suppose! ;0)

Little Bob

Little Bob

This is Little Bob the very curious small birdie who spends most of his day in his favourite tree looking at things that catch his eye. He sees all sorts of things from his leafy branch. In fact, he knows most of what is going on in his part of the woods. He also has a beautiful singing voice which he treats people to from time to time when the mood strikes him.

...and it is most definitely spring here in Sydney. I'm, of course, very pleased about that, but a little distressed too as I have to figure out what I'm going to wear now that it's warmer! Once I get into the swing of it I'll be fine. It's just this transition period between seasons that causes my brow to furrow! Does anyone else have this problem?

Anyway, here's to a happy and healthy and productive week ahead! :0)

Shadowy Swan

My shadow shot this week is of a family of swans. There is a mother swan and her five cygnets having a fine old time paddling about in one of the many ponds in Centennial park. The trees either side of the family are paper barks which absolutely love water and usually position themselves either next to a pond or lake or some sort of marshy area.

Mad Men *sigh*

I read this morning that Banana Republic has just released a 65 piece Mad Men collection. Swoon-o-rama! Just when I thought I had officially recovered from Mad Men fever and had learnt to cope without it for a year, Banana Republic re-kindles my undying love for that show and now I am pining for it like a circa 1975 school girl pined for *Leif Garrett.

I think these designs are a successful 21st Century adaption of the show's ravishing 1960s period clothes.

3 X desirables

I absolutely adore these two pieces. The top one is a handmade vintage fringe copper necklace and below that is an archer bracelet which are both by Laura Lombardi. They are available for purchase on the ever stylish Shop Pour Porter. ...and for summer, I think this pretty, pretty garland necklace by Lauren Manoogian is perfection. This is, unfortunately, sold out I think, but I love it all the same!

Rebecca Wilson's Finest Paperware

These lovely and unusual pieces are by Scottish ceramicist Rebecca Wilson. They were made for a group exhibition currently showing from June to September 2011 at Flow Gallery in London. This work comments on our throw away culture and transforms the humble disposable paper cup into something to be treasured and kept.

Spring Drawings

Black Bunny and Fledgling

It's not officially spring yet, but it sure feels like it's on its way! All the jasmine is in full bloom and the light has changed slightly. It's no longer that clear wintry colour - it has a tiny bit of gold in it. Anyway, spring happens to be my favourite season, so I drew two spring babies on the weekend to celebrate its (soonish) arrival.

On the left there is Gareth, a glossy black baby rabbit who is enjoying himself in a field of pink daisies. On the right is a very small fledgling called Rupert. It's possible he's only a few days old, so everything is exceptionally new and wonderful for him at the moment.

For shadow shot Sunday this week I have two shots from nature. I actually took these shots a few weeks back at the end of Autumn. The yellow leaves on the left are from the Botanic Gardens and the acorn is from Centennial Park.

Capriole by Iris Van Herpen

New designer Iris Van Herpen had her debut at the recent Paris Couture shows for Fall-Winter 2011 - 2012. I am absolutely entranced by her work. The textures and forms of her 'clothes' are just ravishing in my opinion. I feel she is definitely one to watch! What do you think?

Little Garden Chef + other news

Little Garden Chef

This is the Little Garden Chef. I think she's making dessert - possibly peeling some apples for an apple pie. I think she's very much enjoying herself there in her garden doing something purposeful. I don't ever remember doing that myself, but I remember having a ball in the garden with my cats (X 5) and neighbour. To play for hours on end in the backyard when you're little is very enjoyable and important I think.
