This is a float bowl in the garden of E.G. Waterhouse's 1914 Historic House Eryldene. According to the Eryldene website: The garden is regarded as the 'spiritual' home of the camellia in Australia. Waterhouse planted, researched and propagated camellias, which earned him international fame and respect, and brought the camellia back to popularity as a garden plant. The camellias are at their best between April and August.
I took this photo in September. The camellias were on their way out but the charming thing about the gardens is that they have many large float bowls where the gardeners put the fallen blooms. It really is a very lovely idea.

The three-dimensional feeling of this pond is artistic and wonderful. The surface has flowers of ruby, but I love the dark shadow on the bottom. A beautiful pond, a place to place flowers and contemplate...

I think I would be in heaven if I visited this garden and house. I adore camellias. And your shot of them floating in water is very pretty. Hope you had a fantastic weekend, Sam.

How pretty! I love the idea of garden float bowls. I think I'll look into getting one for all of my dandelions. It will need to be a very big bowl!
I hope you've been having a lovely weekend Sam and that the rain from yesterday has eased off a little. It's just so not fair when it rains on weekends! xo
