I finally completed Jeremy modelling the four seasonal looks for '09/ '10. You can find them in my shop from top to bottom: The Look this Spring, The Look this Summer, The Look this Fall, and The Look this Winter.
I think Jeremy has a big career ahead of him as an international catwalk model, don't you? I've already fielded some calls from Lagerfeld's people and really, when Lagerfeld says you're OK you're already on your way in my opinion.

While surfing the internet last night I chanced upon this delightful book due to be published on the 8th October: Dogs in Vogue. It has all the classic pup shots plus a whole swag of others. I love this one of Lee Radziwill (above) taken in 1960 with her pug Thomas. Here are a couple of others...
Aren't they gorgeous? I love the expressions on some of the pooches' faces - bless! They really are the stars! It's another crazy Spring day here in Sydney. From 30+ during the week to blustery windy and chilly! Ah Spring! I think there's a Chinese expression which says something along the lines of "Spring is like a child's face". I think it means it's pretty changeable!
Meanwhile, I have spied an enormous Andy Warhol book in my favourite bookshop which chronicles practically everything he did throughout his career. I'm particularly drawn to his early magazine and advertising work. I think he had a terrific sense of composition. The book is incredibly expensive so I'm enjoying the more modest picture books that were given to me as a present a few years ago. These drawings here are all from the book "Cats, cats, cats".
I'm so glad Drew Barrymore has a new film to promote because that means we get to see more neat photos of Drew dressed up working the red carpet like a pro. The past year she has at times looked nothing short of gorgeous. Even when she doesn't exactly hit the mark she's always got something fun on and it's clear she's had a think about her whole outfit. Run of the mill celebrity she is not.

This is Drew promoting Grey Gardens. Love that teal number particularly. Love what

While perhaps the length of her skirt on the right is not the most flattering,the colour is unusual and I like it teamed with those blue tights.
On the left a diagonal number - not sure about the large strap up the top but overall I think it's flattering and I like her braided hair and her red patent leather peep toe shoes.
On the right, an unusual military style dress that is a great cut, fit and the colours are striking.
I think one of the reasons Drew manages to pull off some different looks is because she (or her stylist!) is very good at accessorising her outfits with cool shoes/ hair/ jewellery. Plus she's very cute - that always helps of course, doesn't it?

One of the highlights of my garden trawl last week apart from the flowers was the utter joy I had at seeing a real live bowerbird nest. When asked to describe my seven traits a few weeks ago, I said I was a bowerbird and a few people asked me what that was. Well, I can now explain that in more detail!
Above on the left is a female Satin bowerbird and on the right is the male (both images are from here). To attract a mate the male satin bowerbird builds a bower which consists of two walls of sticks and twigs which form an avenue. In the entrance to this bower he places objects of a colour that catch his eye. Below you can see the bower in the middle and the objects he has chosen are all blue. The objects range from blue drinking straws to bottle tops and blue clothes pegs. I took this photo in Swain gardens. I went back this week and was delighted to see the bower still intact even though the garden had been tended.
Male bowerbirds build their nest in a particular area and the females do tours of the area inspecting the bowers and eventually mate with the male that has the best bower in their opinion.
I thought perhaps if this male bowerbird was a person he might collect the following:

I watched a David Attenborough documentary about bowerbirds and he came to the conclusion that the bowerbirds were no different to humans collecting art and furnishings for a house in order to attract a mate *ahem* partner.

On the left we have the latest look for Fall (or Autumn as we say down here in Australia). Vests are big news with all the fashion houses having at least one version on the catwalk. Our model has teamed it with a black tie which is a nice contrast to the pale shirt worn underneath.
On the right we have the must have look for Spring. Notice again that vests are big news but they are in lighter fabrics and pastels are the preferred colour palette.
Our model for today is Jeremy. You can find these as prints in my shop here (Fall) and here (Spring).
I have very much enjoyed watching and reading all the reportage from the New York fashion shows. So much so that I felt compelled to do my own version. Stay tuned for the Winter and Summer collections!
Hello sailor!!
I have a morbid fear of hairdressers and Chas Adams has more or less summed up why I've only ever been twice. Those two visits were to get an expensive drinking straw perm (basically an afro that took about eight hours to do) which I promptly turned into dreadlocks. That was when I was at Uni by the way - fear not gentle readers I am no longer a rastafarian feral drawing machine these days - I have a neat bob which I cut myself. Much easier to maintain!
So, take it away Chas...
